A visit with artist Ernest Simmons
At the end of April a few member artists will have their work on display along side the well collected artists that exhibit in the annual Raymond James Wildlife & Western Visions show. YAC intern Pam Tinnen, art administrator for Raymond James, thought it would be a great project for our youth to discover and paint in the manner of two area artist, Ernest (Ernie) Simmons and David Yorke. For the past seven weeks students have met under the guidance of Pam, to discover the artist’s works, research subject matter and the challenge of creating their own master copy. Ernie Simmons was happy to open is studio to us and spent the morning giving valuable tips, tricks and life lessons in addition to showing us his amazing paintings of Florida’s birds. Please visit his website: ernestsimmons.com to find out more about him and see his works. Don’t forget to come check Youth Arts Corps out at this years Wildlife & Western Visions Art Show, April 25th & 26th.
