Quilts! Camp Open House 2009

Hard to believe that we just wrapped up our 8th Quilts! camp.  Our Open House was a success, CASA was there to recieve the community service quilts  made for them, the girls performed and shared highlights of what they accomplished during the 10 weeks.  The quilts on display within Youth Arts Corps were the girls personal quilts, they were so colorful and impressive!  A huge thanks to all of the artists that worked with us this summer, you made a lasting impact on a lot of young up and coming fiber artists!

TASCO Sculptures!

Unfortunately this year we had no venue to host our final competition between all of TASCO’s summer camp recycled works of art.  Judges visited each site where the final sculptures were evaluated on their creativity, originality and ingenuity.  All of the sculptures that were available to be photographed are here so that everyone can see what an absolutely phenomenal job the centers did!  Special thanks to our artists, Rose Marie Prins (Dr. Rose), Cheryl Murphy and assistants Joshua Steward and Chaya Rubin.  A lot of creative minds came together and came up with amazing results, which do you like best?

Clearwater Camp Finale

North Greenwood and Ross Norton Recreation Centers celebrated their last day of art during camp on August 11th and 12th.  The Youth Arts Corps thanks all of the artists involved with our summer program and look forward to next year!  Here are a few photos from the end of camp celebration at North Greenwood.

Photo exhibit at Unity

For the month of August the Youth Arts Corps is exhibiting 20 photographs at First Unity Spiritual Center, 460 45th Ave North – St Petersburg.  Each month an area artist/s is featured and we were recommended by our old friends the Madir’s.  A nice mix of traditional black & white along with digital color images help enliven the walls at Unity.  If you’re in the area, please drop by all images are for sale!

Quilts for CASA

Each year our Quilts! camp members create around 50 – 60 community service quilts that are donated to an area organization in need. This year CASA is the recipient of the wonderful and warm quilts. Many girls tell us how much they enjoy giving back to their community, it’s a very rewarding part of camp!
